Event was held on the Wednesday of the ITB Berlin (5.3.2008) from 3:00 - 4:00pm in Hall 4.1

Budget Hotellerie Growth Trend - Big Savings Opportunities on Business Trips

The trendsetters in the budget hotel sector promise new savings for commercial travel agencies and business people on the move! What is it about their concepts that's so attractive? What draws in the smart-spenders amongst travelling business people? Two star accommodation has become the fastest growing market sector.

The event was presented by Macy Marvel, Professeur from the Ecole hôtelière de Lausanne, with an introductory greeting by David Jones, WYSE Travel Confederation.

Two star accommodation: the fastest growing market sector worldwide. The accommodation sector presented from the perspective of tourism providers, travel agents and media.

So what's new?

An initial impression of the sector can be obtained from the new, in-depth survey conducted by STAY WYSE among travellers in the below-30 age group*: 1.6 billion overnight stays per year worldwide and anticipated 70% worldwide growth in the market for the below-30 age group from 2005 to 2020, particularly in China and India (source: WYSE Travel Confederation).

Aims of the event:

Economy Accommodation was thus a key theme at ITB Berlin 2008. The world's leading travel trade show has been the main meeting place for key market players since 1966. With 109,000 trade visitors and nearly 11,000 exhibitors from more than 180 countries, ITB Berlin is where business transactions and developments valued at EUR 5 billion took place in 2007.

The new Trends & Events segment in Hall 4.1 welcomed exhibitors from the following industry branches:
